Can the travellers palm be grown in the UK?

Can the travellers palm (Ravenala madagascariensis) be grown in the united Kingdom?

With great difficulty. They will only tolerate temperatures down to freezing. This rules them out for being kept outside in the winter in the UK. Also they get really big – up to 50ft in height! The seeds are readily available in the UK but once they outgrow your conservatory they won’t survive outside.
